In September 2018, Hurricane Florence slammed North Carolina leaving thousands homeless and millions of dollars in damage.
One of the hardest hit areas was the little town of Burgaw, NC, about 30 minutes outside of Wilmington. In some places, the water got as high as 15 to 20 feet deep.
And so the effort to rebuild Burgaw begins.
Recently I had the chance to go to Burgaw with a friend and meet up with Chris Woolard. Chris is the pastor of the Venture Church in Wilmington, one of the many churches in the area helping the locals rebuild their homes and their lives.
“We can’t fix it with just money. We can’t fix it with just work. But what we can do is bring these guys hope.”Chris Woolard
Chris drove us around Burgaw to see first-hand the damage and meet some of the folks determined to start over.
It’s hard to describe the miles and miles of debris along the highway – debris made up of molded sheetrock, carpet, furniture, and personal items too.
I produced this video to give you a small idea of how bad it is and how much work there is left to do.
a little speechless. What an amazing video. Thank you so much for what you’ve done for us.” i’m
It will take months, possibly years, before these people get back to “normal”. Whatever you can do will go along way.
Please visit DARTILM.org and see how you can help today.
Also, consider sharing this video with others so together we can raise awareness and, as Chris said, bring hope to the people of Burgaw.
