John Wooden once said: “Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.”

If you are into into any type of creative arts, doesn’t matter what, it is very easy to get into the what I can’t do mindset, as opposed to what I can do.

It’s easy to get bogged down in, you know, I can’t do this, and I can’t do this, and I can’t do this and we start making up these reasons.

Now a lot of the reasons may be justified.

It may be that you want to do something that cost a lot of money, you don’t have the money, or you want to do something that you don’t have the time for.

I get it too. I have three kids, and our youngest has special needs. And you know, a lot of times things that I may want to do have to change because life happens.

Those are the type things that when you have to be able to roll with.

I think that it’s the stories that we create that like, you know, well, I would love to start a podcast. But I you know I can’t do that because I don’t have anything to talk about. I don’t have the right gear and I don’t have it I don’t have what can you do? Well, what if you use your phone? What if the sound isn’t that good?

That’s okay.

What if you just do it to talk about something that’s important to you?

What if you don’t get hung up on how many people will eventually listen or engage look engagements, huge. I love, love to hear from folks, I’d love to hear from you. If this helps you in any way.

But I think it’s too easy to get caught up in what we cannot do as opposed to what we can do.

I heard Peter McKinnon talking about social media and the trap of social media. That we create all these self-imposed rules and then act like we have no control over what we do.

We overthink everything and then essentially do nothing.

Look, I’ve been there and still go there too often.

Well, what can you do?

So I want to throw that out there as a challenge that when you think you can’t, put that aside, maybe take out a piece of paper and write down what are the things you can do.

And then those things that you really are passionate about, you really want to pursue, you really want to go for, figure out how you can do it.

And it may mean changing the way you think about it or the way you were going to do it.

But I bet you, it’s going to be more freeing and you’re going to find out you can do a lot more than you think you can’t.

I hope that helped you.

Let me know what you think!

Keep creating.
