The bible is filled with assurances of what God wants for us. It’s also filled with promises of what God does for us. So just imagine when the creator of the universe wants to hold your hand!

That’s what God desires to do! He actually take us by the hand and guides us and leads us all of our days.

As believers if we allow – aka., “trust” – God to do this, not only will he direct our steps, he will take delight in every detail of our lives! As a dad of 3 amazing kids, I totally get this visual. Even as my kids get older, I delight in the details of their lives. I love to hear what’s going on in their world – good and bad, victories and struggles – no detail is too insignificant for me to hear about.

The Lord directs the steps of the godly.

He delights in every detail of their lives.

Though they stumble, they will never fall,

for the Lord holds them by the hand.

Psalm 37:23-24

David writes about this – dare I say “crazy”? – okay, I will! – this crazy notion in Psalms 37 that should be an amazing assurance and hope for all believers.

God directs our steps.

God delights in the details of our lives.

God will not let us fall.

God holds our hand.

What an amazing image! God is with us literally every step of the way! And the image of God, THE God, the God who created everything, the God who was and is and will always be, that God, is holding our hand and looking out for us!

We don’t get a lot of guarantees in life. Actually, that may not be totally true. It seems that almost anything you buy comes with some kind of guarantee, albeit it a somewhat limited guarantee. But in our lifetime, we will never get the type of guarantee, the promise, that God gives us.

So believer. God is willing to take you by the hand and lead you. Are you willing to hold on?
