Grateful

I like, really like, Seattle Seahawks quarterback, Russell Wilson. Not only is he an amazing athlete, he’s an even more amazing Jesus-follower.

I’ve written before about Russell’s reaction after losing in Super Bowl 49. It’s nice to see that he still appears to be the Godly man.

Jump forward to this year’s NFC Divisional play-off game against the Atlanta Falcons. The winner would advance to the NFC Championship game and, if you know even just a little bit about football, then you know, that’s just one game away from the Super Bowl!

Unfortunately the game didn’t go the way I hoped. Seattle lost. Final score: Atlanta 36, Seattle 20. Russell had a good game, but not his greatest. Despite throwing for over 225 yards and 2 touchdowns – he also threw 2 costly interceptions.

Now, here’s the part I admire. Just minutes after losing the game and ending the season, this is what Russell tweeted to his 2.8 million followers:

russell-wilson-on-twitter-grateful-for-another-year-god-is-so-good-i-will-never-complain-the-best-is-ahead-gohawks-%f0%9f%99%8f%f0%9f%8f%be-clipular-1

Short. Sweet. Powerful.

Grateful.

God is good.

Never complain.

Look, I will never ever be the athlete Russell is. Not even close. But I can tap into that same God-presence and be grateful regardless of what life throws at me.

In my lifetime, I will win and I will lose. But regardless of the outcome that life throws at me, God remains faithful and true. He is, and always will be, God!

Yes, Russell, I agree…”the best is ahead!’
