Given and Forgiven

When Jesus was nailed to the cross an amazing thing happened.

In fact, in the history of the world – of us – this thing has happened only once.

Never before.

Never since.

Jesus died on a cross to take away our sins.

Your sins. My sins. All of our sin. Regardless of how “big” or small. Regardless of when or where. Regardless of one time sinner or repeat offender. Jesus took three nails and suffered the humiliation and death with only one thing in mind.

You.

If you struggle with the fact you’re not worthy of such a sacrifice. You may be right. But then again, based on our human standards and judgement, I’m not either. No one is.

Thankfully God looked at us…you…me…and saw someone worth saving.

It is a staggering thought that God loves me that much. But he did and he does. And because of His love for you and me, we can have peace and forgiveness even if we don’t feel like it.

Not earned, but given and forgiven.
