If I had a dollar for every time I’ve said that, or even thought that, well, I could have bought myself the bat mobile.
Do you find yourself in a constant hurry? A rush to get somewhere? Or do something? Maybe a constant state of motion without remembering “hey, how did I get here?”
One of my favorite songs by the group Alabama (and by Florida Georgia Line) is “I’m In a Hurry”. The chorus goes like this:
“I’m in a hurry to get things done
Oh I rush and rush until life’s no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.”
Do you find yourself so “in a hurry” that not only “you don’t know why” but maybe you’re going faster than God? In other words, we zip through life so fast we actually miss life…the life God has created all around us.
If you do, consider Psalm 46, one of my favorites because of the way the writer paints a picture of all the chaos that can go on around us…”mountains falling into the sea”…”earthquakes”…”water surging”…”nations in chaos”…THEN…verse 10:
“Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.”
And the core of that verse…”Be still and know that I am God!” or simply…”Be still”. When is the last time you were simply still? Still enough to let God be…God?!
Allow God to be seen and glorified in your life every day.
Hurry up and be still!
